4 Different Types of Air Purifier
Before you go to check out the brand-new air purifiers in a store, it would be interesting to know
what types of air purifiers are available in the market. Not all types of air
purifiers have the same purpose. They may all seem to be designed to get rid of
unwanted airborne particles, but they all have different configurations. All these machines work by attracting air in
through a fan and passing it through a filter that acts as the medium to clean
the air. But there are huge differences in the type of filters used in one
machine from that of another.
Some air purifiers do not even use filters. The type of air purifier also depends on what
kind of particles they filter out and how it is done. They also differ in the
frequency of cleaning and replacing of the collector plates and air
filters. So, with respect to all the
above variations in the air filters, they can be categorized in the following 4
types:
1. HEPA Air Purifiers: These are so far, the best air purifiers
known till date. The HEPA technology is considered best in terms of its performance
versus the byproducts it produces. They do not produce ozone like the other machines.
Their filters that are used to trap particulates are of top quality. Some
models of air purifiers use these HEPA
filters with VOC filters to trap almost all the harmful particles, fumes, allergens
and odors in the air. Therefore, you may
say that HEPA air purifiers are the safest and the perfect choice for you if
you want a clean and fresh living air.
You can find a huge number of HEPA filters in every shop.
2. Ozone Generators: Ion or ozone generators are one kind of air
purifiers that emit charged particles into the living air. These particles
attach to particulates like dust and mold spores, become heavy and either fall
on the floor or cling to a nearby surface like wall or furniture. So, if you go
for these air purifiers then you need to consider cleaning your walls, floors
and furniture quite often to remove all the harmful particles from your home.
Plus, Thus, these purifiers emit ozone in the air which is not good for people,
especially those who suffer from asthma or other respiratory problems.
3. Electrostatic Precipitators: You may find some air purifiers for sale which look similar like the ozone generators
but differ slightly in mechanism. Unlike the ozone generators, the
electrostatic precipitators cling to the particles within the machine and not
outside. The collector plates of these purifiers can be washed easily, so they
do not have to be replaced.
4. Air Sanitizers: Air sanitizers or air
sterilizers can remove viruses, bacteria, and spores from the air. They use heat or UV light to kill or destroy harmful
particles like pollen, fungi, dust mites, mold and other germs.
